Lucho Cooking…Happy Birthday Bere

image

We went to see Luis who came to visit from Chicago. He is staying with Chega who just recently purchased a home. It was great to see Luis and Berenice and their children. It was also nice to see Chega again. Luis started cooking and he almost lit the place on fire.

Today is Berenice’s birthday and she is 21 years old…right?…We wish her a happy happy birthday.

Today is also the last day that Jafet will be with us for a while since he leaves for the Dominican. We will miss him but he will be back soon.

SOU…Boring Day

Last night’s State of the Union address by President Obama was sad.  It sounded like a child who didn’t get what he wanted so he was angry in front of mommy and daddy.  To be truthful, I only watched about 10 minutes of the speech but when you have heard one Obama speech you’ve heard them all.  They all start out talking about “Me”, then he moves on to “Myself” and he finishes of with “I.”  Riveting stuff.  He blamed Bush, and stomped his feet in front of the Supreme Court, was angry at American’s for not believing in global warming, cried about the stimulus, and pouted about the Republicans apposing his socialist agenda.  That’s my assessment of the speech.

Today has been very boring and uneventful.  I finished work and just sat around the house trying to relax.  Relaxing does not come easy for me so it’s almost as if I have to force myself to relax.

My television continues to give me problems and my patience is running thin.  I am ready to give it away and get  a smaller TV that does not use so much energy.  A couple of nights ago Alejandra, who loves the QVC or the Home Shopping Network, saw a TV that was 65 inches and wanted to buy it.  I said no!…Too expensive.

Lately, James the instigator, as been fanning the flames as my wife tries to get me to open the wallet to buy things we absolutely don’t need.  James also chastises me for going to McDonald’s to get coffee and not Starbucks.  I made myself a promise that I would NEVE EVER EVER again pay for an overpriced drink from Starbucks.  I’m sticking to that forever!

Tonight, Jafet, Mom, Dad, Ale, and I are going  to eat at Longhorn Steakhouse.  Jafet leaves Saturday and we want to hang out with him before he leaves to the Dominican Republic.  I think I’m going to have the Flo’s Filet with a side of vegetables.  I have to eat healthy to stay trim.

Hope you all had a great day!

State of the Union

Did you see one of the Justices nod his head and mouth “that’s not true”- when Obama spoke of the recent Supreme Court decision regarding corporations and political speech?

Mamma’s Back

My mom got home today safe and sound from her trip to Nicaragua and Panama. She brought me many many fabulous gifts. I guess I am her favorite.

Anyway we brought her over to eat a delicious meal at Steak n Shake.

Obama’s Ego

I was browsing the internet the other day when I came across a story from The Politico.  The story was written by Glenn Thrush on January 25, 2009.  I guess the only thing bigger than President Obama’s ears is his ego.  Representative Marion Berry had expressed concerns that this mid-term election could turn into a repeat of the 1994 election in which the Democrats lost Congress to the Republicans.  President Obama doesn’t thing so, he went on to tell Rep. Berry, “Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.” Big ego?  No no no no, that would be a gross understatement.

Read the story below.

Berry:  Obama said “big difference” between ’10 and ’94 is “Me”

Written by Glenn Thursh

Rep. Marion Berry’s parting shot, published in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette [no link, subscription only] offers a warning to moderate Democrats and border state moderates — warning of a midterm bloodbath comparable to the 54-seat D-to-R swing in 1994.

But the jaw-dropper is Berry’s claim that President Obama personally dismissed any comparison between Democrats now and under Bill Clinton 16 years ago — by saying his personal popularity would bail everybody out.

The retiring Berry, who doesn’t say when the remarks were made, now scoffs at Obama’s 50-or-below approval rating:

Writes ADG reporter Jane Fullerton:

Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.

“I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all,” Berry said. “They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’ We’re going to see how much difference that makes now.” [snip]

“I began to preach last January that we had already seen this movie and we didn’t want to see it again because we know how it comes out,” said Arkansas’ 1st District congressman, who worked in the Clinton administration before being elected to the House in 1996… “I just began to have flashbacks to 1993 and ’94. No one that was here in ’94, or at the day after the election felt like. It certainly wasn’t a good feeling.”

Phone update

image

Well it turns out that updating from your phone is rather easy. Technology really is incredible.

On the other hand my technologically advanced television keeps turning off by itself and it is driving me crazy! Fixing it may cost me $400! I remember the days when a TV would last someone their entire lives…well I don’t remember but that’s what my dad says…He is from the generation that had to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow and in Nicaragua! A story like that has to be true.

Okay this is my first update from my phone so I hope it works.

Disaster Strikes…Change Happens

The blunder of all blunders happened to me today.  I was making some changes to the site through the hosting service when all of a sudden I clicked a button I was not supposed to click and KABOOM!  The whole site was deleted.  This frustrates me to no end!  I spend all night yesterday transferring the contents of the Joomla site to the new site but it was all for naught.

This isn’t the first time that this has happened but it is by far the most frustrating.

Anyway I hope you all like the new changes to the site.  The move gives us greater flexibility to update via email and mobile network.

I am also hoping to add contributors to the site who will be able to bring their boring pathetic lives into into full view.  You can still view the pictures from the old site by clicking on “Josue’s Pictures” located on the side panel.

I want to thank James for suggesting the change.  Hopefully he can contribute more than shameless criticism…hahahaha…

Today has not been a very good day.  I started the day out just fine but unfortunately I got sick.  It seems like I’m starting to catch a fever.  Anyway enjoy the changes and welcome to the new VidaMendoza.com
